Temporary Assistance for Needy Families or TANF

This is a US government program run by the Office of Family Assistance (OFA). OFA oversees government grant programs designed to help families achieve economic stability and security.

They designed the TANF program to help low-income families become self-sufficient so they could care for their children at home.

Single mothers can apply for TANF Assistance to help cover the costs of basic needs like food, clothing, shelter, utilities, and transportation.

While TANF does not offer free vehicles to single mothers, the laws allow states to use the money to help employed families with mobility problems, including providing funds to purchase a car.

To apply for TANF assistance, you must contact your county or local welfare office
